So i'm doing some quick tweaks before cleveland rock and ride and am unsure whether or not to put in a scupper. Would love to hear some opinions on what you are using and pros/cons of it.

Here's my opinion: Don't bother with a scupper.
Make sure you have a good OEM hoodseal, a well-sealing hood, and two good electric bilge pumps.
99% of people (WAG) don't "need" a scupper.
Keep the water out in the first place and let the pumps do the rest.
IMHO, scuppers/one ways are way more trouble than they're worth.
I wish I had never installed one.

Hey Matt, While you do make a good argument, you are leaving out what they do.

They get a whole lot of water out quick. If you compete or just do flat water freestyle then to me it is a must.

If you only plan to do some subs and stuff but would like to be able to get the water quicker than bilge pumps, then look at the Blowsion or a Sump Pump check valve type.

If you just rip up the lake or ride in the surf, then bilgepumps and make sure your hood is sealing well.

I agree with the 1st priority being keeping the water out in the first place, but so far that isn't quite enough. I'm currently running two bilges 1-500gph and 1-800gph, but I can only fit one towards the back of the engine compartment so if i just sit there and wait for it to pump out i have to do exactly that.

So of those of you who are running with one which ones seem to be the most reliable?

I've tried a few. I now have a Blowsion one-way valve that I am reasonably happy with.

I was suprised at how well the 650 drains. It has a grate at the back of the engine compartment that blows into the jet like a return tube. I don't know is other models do this, but it works well with a 500gph rule pump as well. Double bilge pumps out of the same port = Supreme.

just say no.
right now i run just the stock siphon. my hood is sealed good. i do have a pump onboard for emergencies. scuppers let out air and let water into the ski when upside down. seen it happen alot, sinks them in no time! i got 45-60 seconds to get to my ski when ive seen others with scuppers go in 20-30 seconds.

I put 2 x XFT monster 3" scuppers in and run a switchable 500GPH electric "because I can" :nana::nana:

With a good hood/seal the boat can sit upside down for a pretty long while without much water getting in. But with a scupper it is a different story. You can always plug it up if you don't need it though.

Looks pretty sweet. Do they leak at all?

I've decided to put the tubing in with threaded coupler on end and i'm just going to plug it for now. At least the stuff will be ready when i decide to take the plunge. Thanks for everyones help/ideas/opinions:Banane25:

i have a scupper with a XFT "boobies" hood. if my ski rolls upside down......BYE!

im plugging that stupid pos. all it does is pull water and sink my boat in surf. it sinks while siting there. i hate it. ive been duct taping it for the time being.

they make 1100 bilge's. ill put those in some time.
