old school 550 crankcase/starter oil help????!??!?!

hey my buddy just got an old school kawi 550 and we were wondering what kind of oil and how mouch of it to put in the front crankcase spot where the starter and flywheel are enclosed..... we really dont know what to goes in there. we took it apart and it smelled like regular gear lube but i wasnt sure what kind~!?!?! any help would greatly appreciated

NOTHING goes in there. it looks like an oil fill on a lawnmower, but its not. keep it DRY. MAYBE a quick shot of dumbya-D.

No oil in that part of the engine

Just make sure you are running a 40:1 mixture of 2 stroke oil and gas.
The plug means nothing on your engine or I should say nothing goes in there.
The smell you smell may be good and it may be bad. You are supposed to have a little grease around the gear on your flywheel so that is normal. However, if your crankcase seal is going bad (located behind your flywheel) that could be bad. Just make sure you put the plug back in thightly by hand.
