Yes, I've done MSD 8.5 mm wires and used them on most of my skis. It's a bit labor intensive. I had opened up a spare coil to see the length and depth of the pin that needs to pierce the new wires and how to make a drill bit that can straddle said pin. (I used a slitting wheel). I also used crimp on connectors to properly contact the pins (might not be needed). You'll also need to ream the holes of the pass through grommets which are spaced 1/2" (13mm) from the coil towers. Epoxy will hold the wires in. 3 of my coils are in their 10th year of use, try doing that with steel or copper wires!
