Anyone ever use this stuff? Outside of another hull insert (& don't break the bolt), what other fabrications have you guys done to alleviate this problem?
I broke off one of my engine mount bracket bolts, in the hull. I tried to back it out and proceeded to tear up the hull insert. After lots of cussing and deliberation I decided to hog out the insert large enough to accept a nut and then epoxy it in. I got impatient thinking about the epoxy dry time, so I moved on to the JB weld and then Oatey Epoxy putty. Hopefully it will hold the nut verically when I torque it down. It worked great as far as consistency. I was able to sink the nut in the recess and it hardened in about 20 minutes. I checked it this morning after it had all night to set up and it was rock hard. I did some more reading and the package info states that you can drill and tap the stuff after it sets up. If the nut comes loose with torque I think I'll try filling the hole with it and tap if to accept the bolt directly.
