Freestyle nozzle bore question

So I'm pretty happy with my setup finally. I went back to the 11/17 in my 148. Now its slipping down low, but at least now it's not loading the engine up before its making its power like the 13/20 My question is I'm at an 86mm nozzle bore. Would going to stock nozzle bore or maybe a different tail cone make enough of a difference? I'd hate to buy another prop just to see it be too much prop. I know when trying to get everything perfect all those factor in to how it's going to perform with the entire package. Looking for input from those who have been there.
Thanks

Tail cones or nozzles should help you out without having to buy a prop. Plus they're a lot easier to swap out at the lake than a prop. Maybe if you had a couple nozzles and a different cone you could do some pump tuning in a day. What motor do you have Brian?

DASA 970 with power factor pipe. I'm going to try that first before I get a prop. I'm also going to see if a scoop grate helps at all. Right now I have a plain open style grate. Feels really loose on turns. I like it..

A lot of people seem to be going to that loose feel. In my opinion you're probably very very close on the prop. This is really just going off what others run, and I know every boats different. But I feel you can get away with nozzle and cone tuning. Good luck though, I know I didn't really do anything but confirm the direction you were already heading.
