Super Jet Not another 760 in a sj thread!!

Ok, so I've got a wb2 with a 760 in it that i'm pondering on swapping into my sn (650). I've been reading all kinds of threads on here trying to figure out if it's worth it for flat water. Obviously there's a lot of debate on this. So here's what I'm thinking, mill the cyclinders down to lower the port timing, maybe even do a port job on them as well. Possibly bore it out. I'm still kinda confused on the electroics side of things. Seems the stock setup has a heavy flywheel and the timing is bad. So can I fix the timing with and enhancer? Can I get the stock flywheel lightened significantly? What options are out there as far as heads go? Also will a b pipe bolt up? Thanks!

Do it.
It's not that hard of a swap and even though the port timing isn't ideal it should smoke the 650.
Or send it to a guy like Chuck at CPT or Powerhouse Performance and have them port it correctly.

Well the 760 is rated at 90hp and the 650 is rated at 50hp. Sounds like a good idea to me especially if you have the ports lowered.

Yeah, the flip side of it is i'd have to put the 650 in my wb2. What am I looking at cost wise the have the cylinders milled down? Does anyone make templates for a freestyle port job that I could use to do it myself? Or is porting something I really should leave to the pros?

Even if I do lower the ports and have it ported, maybe even bored out, would it make as much bottom end hit as a 61x with the same things done to it?

HP is a function of Torque and RPM. A Porsche has higher HP than a F250 but you wont be doing much towing for it.

Unless he's racing, horsepower numbers are not that important. Freeride on a superjet needs low end thrust, not peak horsepower.

My friend has a 92 SN that he just bought from TN it has a 760 with a protec Mach 1 pipe in it. And we are going riding on sat or Monday. I could let you know how it compares to my RN with minor upgrades. Ada head 35cc domes, riva red, solas I and a stubby cone. Not much done to it but it would be a good margin.

Im pretty sure everyone here knows a 3/4 ton truck can out pull a sports car...I get what your saying, but the 760 actually shares some of the same parts as the 650, but its 110cc bigger, so i would think the 760 would have atleast the same or a little more torque then the 650.

It would be ideal if he had a 701 61x/62t laying around, but that's not the case.

I didn't say I disagreed with putting in the 760. I was just saying that the horse power rating isn't that important.

I put a 760 from a b2 in a Round nose and it ripps. I didn't mess with the port timing, just used stock sj electronics. Bpipe, ada head and enhancer and it's great!

With all porting the same I guess I don't see how a 760 wouldn't be better than even a sleeved 61x. Isn't the casting on the 62t cylinders beefier?

From what I've read on here, yes the 62t cylinders are beefier. Seems to me that the 62t 701 and 62t 760 cylinders are nearly identical as far as porting goes. Just the 760 has more displacement, obviously, which would make one think more power as well, even down low where we like it!

no use sugar coating it. and i'm not going to agree with anyone that says DO IT! its not worth it. everything doesnt just fall together and the 760 motors are not that great or powerful. no matter what motor you put in a square nose, its still going to be a square nose , with stock hull limitations. and you can go broke chasing the horsepower dream.

I don't get the above post. It does pretty much fit right in I put a stock 760 with a head and a single carb and a b pipe and its a great all around ski it doesn't yank your arms off like a ported big bore motor but it is noticeably better than a 650 and what's wrong with squares the bottom deck is identical to a rn
