I have a quick question for all you elecrtical Gurus.

My ski, 03 SJ, is having a problem starting. It will make a thunking noise from the electrical box. This will happen a couple of time and then it will crank.

I was told that this could be the starting relay.

If so, is this something that a Yamaha shop will have on the shelf? My Yamaha shops don't really know what a Super Jet is.

Thanks for the help.

the clicking noise from the elec box is the selnoid (starter relay). If it's making the noise that means its working. I'd check the battery, positive cable to the starter, the ground from the starter and the starter it self.

it could be an intermittant starter relay, but id lean more toward a battery, ground or positive starter wire connection. if any of these wires are loose or have a bad connection/connector, the relay will just click away.

Thanks for the quick responses.

I will check out the connections first, I had the battery out before the last ride and something may have wiggled loose.

I do ride in Salt/Brackish water about 70% of the time. So a quick check of the cables won't hurt either.

Thanks agian for the quick replies.

Cool, I will try that tonight. I haven't opened the electical box since I got it. I am kind of scared of what I might find now.
