No Sound on My PC

Sorry - meant to put in OT.

As if the flooding in my kitchen isn't enough to send me over the edge, I no longer have no sound on my PC. I just moved into my new place and I'd like to listen to some tunes on my PC but no dice. Worked fine before the move. I doubt its driver-related since it worked last week and I haven't changed anything software-wise. Probably messed something up during the move.

Everything else works fine. I tried to check for loose wires and whatnot but the soundcard is built into the motherboard. Should I just say F-it and buy a soundcard for $10 from tigerdirect? Or is its something simple that I can fix?

Here is what I made sure of:

The speakers work (plugged them into my iPod)
I am using the right output (tried all three, just to be more sure)
Volume is up on both PC Volume Control and iTunes (and the speakers).

Nothing. SONOFA*******

you could have a bad jack on the soundcard. sometimes the solder joint on the printed circuit board breaks.

it could also be possible that your soundcard somehow came out of its slot, and now your built in sound chip is working (if you have one). this theory is pretty unlikely though since youd have to set the internal chip to work in bios. then, i havent built a computer in a year or 2. stuff couldve changed.

also, make sure that the soundcard youre using is the one thats selected in your sound control options.
