Super Jet New to the site- Steering binding on SJ, cable issue?

Hey guys, I'm new to the site and this is my first post. I just got a 92 square nose a few weeks ago with a rebuilt 61x motor from a guy in NC. He's probably a member here. Real nice guy, we rode together for a bit and took the time to answer all of my questions and gave me a few tips. I've been wearing myself out on it ever since and have been having a blast!

Anyway, I've noticed that the steering seems to bind when the bars are turned all the way to the right. At first I just thought that I was better at making left turns than right turns but when I move the bars around when its out of the water I can really feel the steering get a lot stiffer at the end of the travel to the right. I can't see anything interfering with the bars themselves or the jet nozzle. Does this mean that there is an issue with the steering cable?

One of your steering cable ends is probably slightly bent or your steering is not adjusted correctly. This is how I adjust mine. Use a 2' or 4' straight edge to get the nozzle perfectly straight. Do this by laying the straight edge across the back of the nozzle and get the same distance to both side of the rear of the ski. If your bars are crooked then adjust as needed. If it is still binding up then you might just need a new cable.

Ok thanks, I'll check the nozzle alignment when I get it back into the garage. I rode it all day yesterday and it didn't seem to be as noticeable but I might just be getting used to it. Is there any way to lube the cable or straighten the ends if they are bent?

I'm sure it's possible but once they are bent it is hard to straighten them out perfectly. As far lubing the cable, there are no provisions to get lube inside. If it is not moving freely then you definitely just need to buy a new cable.
