Blaster New to the Blaster

Whats up guys, i just bought a 94 Blaster with a 701 single carb and hardly know anything about this machine. I know the previous owner put a TDR waterbox in and removed the oil injection system as well as the fuel selector valve and ran a primer instead.

Im looking for any advice i can get as far as what do to next, any mods that should be done. I would like to put a 701 transom plate on with rear exit exhaust but havent been able to find anything on exhaust systems for the blaster. Im not looking to rocker the nose or cut the transom at this time, i dont plan on surf riding it for the time being.

Im also trying to figure out the difference in the 61x and 62t and which one my blaster has in it.

Any help would be great, thank you!!!

I dont see a need to buy a 701 plate unless you just like bling. You already have rear exhaust so there is no reason to change it unless you like spending money nd doing unecessary work.

The 94 came with a 61x/61x single carb.

Ride it and enjoy it. When you want more power, do pipe head prop. Dont get lured in too quickly buying unnecassary bling unless you have money to burm.

Im ready for more power!!! What pipe and prop would you recommend? I think i just liked the looks of the transom plate and exhaust exiting out the left side of the nozzle. I figured it would change the sound a little also, not being tucked up inside the tunnel. I like the low end power but then again i dont want to lose any of my top end, is that even possible?

If you have tdr waterbox, you already have all the noise you need. If you just want to spend some money on customization, then by all means buy the transome and exhaust tube.

You have a stock motor so modifications will give you more too and more bottom.

I like my Ada girdled head on my Superjet. The girdled kit will help prevent the cylinder from cracking. If you want to do a head and wait on the pipe, you will need an additional adaptor to continue running the stock pipe.

I have a factory pipe mod chamber on my Superjet and am pleased. My current blaster is all stock except the tdr box. A past blaster had a riva red pipe that worked well too. I don't think factory pipe blaster chambers are available new anymore. I'm not sure of any new options really. It would seem used riva pipes also seem to be made out of the same gold that factory pipes are. You just need to do some research and decide which pipe you like for your budget. Personally I'd be looking at a riva pipe because my blaster is a backup, but if it was my front line ski I'd probably look for a more expensive factory blaster mod.

The prop just matches the rest of the setup. Look at the solas application charts for a limited blaster. I recall my Superjet has a 12/17 concord and runs 49mph at 7200 rpm. Lower pitch props may give more bottom end but will allow higher rpm. It sounds like you are a recreational rider, so you just need to consult with someone like impros and select a prop that will give you the most bottom while preventing unsafe conditions wot.

Awesome! I appreciate the advice, I see a lot of people riding the factory mod pipe I'll look into those. I have been looking at the ADA girdled head and was thinking about just going with the 185psi so that I won't have to run race gas. I'll also look into the props.

Are you familiar with porting the 61x? I could swear I read over something about someone on this forum that has the template to match the porting?

Id wait on porting unless you have a good reason to take your motor apart. A pipe head and prop is going to be a sustaintial improvement over what you have now. Youre looking at spending $1500 on parts, and that assumes you dont need to pay someone to assemble or tune it. Mind your budget. If you have the money to spend, then its not a terriable idea. I perosnally prefer a smooth power band, soni dont prefer porting, but many do, and so may you.

Something important to note about ypur porting templets is that it is a work of art. The templet is like having an outline of the mona lisa and you think that is enough for you to do all the shading and end up with a devinci. Dont get ahead of yourself and miss out on ride time.

Im not saying dont do it. Im just saykng do your research and know what you arw gettkng into before you take the plunge.
