I just got an old 440 running and I need some advice. My pole doesn't stay up it just falls and hits the engine cover. Is that bad and how do I fix it? Also I there isn't a bilge pump. Is that bad?

You will have to look for a pole spring if you want one. It should have the stock siphon bilge that flows to the pump.

with the stock bilge would I be able to do subs and other fun stuff?

Yes and no you can do stuff but it takes a long and I mean long time for the stock bilge system to empty it out. I use to just pull back into shore pull off hood and tip the ski over to empty the water.
