New racing class pro watercross superstock ski

Just announced last week, rules are posted on the pwx site.

They are calling it a stepping stone to the gp class.
It's basically a 4 stroke stand up class mixed with 1100 two strokes with bolt ons, using "approved" aftermarket hulls. The list of hulls has not been released yet.

Maybe. I still need to get an 08 hull. I have all the other stock class parts.

Cant justify 3k for a damn stock hull, unless it's brand new. They are exceedingly hard to find for about 2k

imo it is stupid. The class essentially already exists, it is called AM Open..change a few words in the rulebook and the superstock class becomes the open class.

I thought the same thing, they should have just reinstated super stock rules from years past so people don't have to do engine swaps...and still haul ass and have fun while racing.

If you read the rulebook the primary reason for the creation of the class is to allow 4 strokes as well as aftermarket hulls to compete with oem hulls. Tell me how this isnt the AM Open class already? I guess i do not understand the why part.

Why? Because no one raced limited anymore.

The class is GP without porting, total loss, strikers, aftermarket carbs. For all the people out there with SXRs with 1100s who don't want to get creamed by a full on GP, this class is for you. Plus, there are very few people out there who can actually ride a full GP to it's potential. Plus, Hydros are given a boost over limited rules. UWP is looking for a class that is a go between from stock to GP, this is it.

As for the 4 bangers, they aren't allowed to boost (other than the hydro) so the spark and TR1 Yamaha will have to be normally aspirated. They will still be fast, but not boosted GP fast.

If that is the case then I would think it wise to eliminate a class as well when adding one. Simply adding more will disperse entries between a larger number of fields yielding less people on the lines in a greater # of classes. Lets take this class and eliminate(or merge with) one like AM Open. I, personally, would love to see a true staggered system where you have novice on stock skis, experts on limiteds/superstocks, and pros on GP. Nothing else, no "ifs", "ands", or "buts"..

I see that, which is good, but the new class is also somewhat redundant of the am open class and imo should be combined. It would make my day if they chose to run it like they do overseas. Ski lites, promotion, and elite. The new superstock class is looking more and more like the "promotion" class. Hopefully the ijsba catches on :/

Awesome! I agree with this staggered system idea.
