new motor ski no start??

ok today we got my new motor i got from x-2 rags along with the new coil from wedoseadoo installed..i've got compression, spark, and plugs smell like fuel...but this thing wont fire up:thinking:...the only thing that we can find wrong is one of the studs on my bcw intake wont fully let the carb tighten down..it gets almost tight then starts to pull out..tomorrow morning i'm gonna fix this problem but was just wondering if this airleak here could cause the fuel pump to lose enough pressure so it's not getting enough fuel in the ski to actually run...it tries to fire you can hear it trying but...fail!..everthing in the carb looks perfect and you can watch it pull fuel through the lines but it doesnt have enough pressure to push fuel all the way throuhg the return line back into the tank the second the line goes vertical it cant push the fual up hill in ther return line..to me this seems like it's the problem just thought i'd ask and see if theres anything else i should look at while i'm there.....thanks

try pouring a small amount of fuel down the throat and cranking...... sometimes it does not pull enough vacuum to really get the fuel flowing......make sure you got your fuel lines hooked up correctly

i always ran a primer and it needed it!! but always cranked fine after a couple of shots.

we tried that a couple of times and it sputters like it's gonna start then just goes back to cranking....fuel line s hooked up correctly. check:fing02:

oh rags did you ever measure that carb??

did you cap the oil line off on the intake?? thats where my primer was.

measured 44.65 per brown and sharp when i got it.

ok just thought i'd ask we came up with the same measurement as well..yeah the oil line is capped...i'll try hooking my primer up to it in the morning when i fix the stud on the manifold

oh yeah and i have your parts..i'll get them shipped out monday morning for ya..or if you're not in a hurry i can just send them back with will when he comes down here in a couple of weeks

just mail them im not sure when and where he will be there and the bendix in my sj is about to take a dump im pretty sure. thanks man. i never saw anything on that intake, i got it new still in the plastic just a few months before you. sorry to hear your having issues, that was always my old reliable always ran great (except daytona) lol
