need some help with my carb problem

well ive kinda got a curly carb problem at the moment with my gp800. yes i know its a couch but it is a 66e and thats why id try in here.
the frist sytem off the problem was the ski was running fine one day and i left ot for a week or so and then came back to start it before a friend used it to take some pics off us in the surf and the motor was hydraulic with petrol. i cleared all the out and took it to the lake to see if it was going to run and it would only rev to 3000 rpm and was just pouring fuel in . at idel its fine but as soon as you give it any gas it wont rev over 3000 rpm
so i pulled the carbs and changed the needle and seats to a new ones thinking the needle and seets were stuffed. this fixed the problem for an hour or so but the problem has come back . so right now im thinking for some strange reason the diaphragm is holding the needle and seat open and its pouring raw fuel into the cylinders when you give it some gas .
do you think im on the right track or has someone experienced this before and has some ideas on how i can get this sorted .

im pretty convinced its carb problem and not elec as when this frist happened i was running a msd total loss ,and changed back to the factory elecs and it was still the same . im kinda at a loss right now

Check your float height again. If too high it will pop needle off the seat. ALso ensure that o-ring to needle valve is still good. In a lot of cases I have found the float needle pin retention screw gets worn out. Multiple installs will cause it to hollow out, not applying enough pressure on the pin, allowing it to wiggle free and lift the needle valve off of the seat. You would notice this in surf or rough water conditions. Could be fine on flat water until you hit a wave hard enough to pop it out. Also some of the after market flot needle pins are machined short causing the same issue.

If you have installed new needle valved AND seats with good o-ring's it will be one or the other events mentioned.

BTW, have had some boats pop needle valve pressure when stored in the sun with full tank of fuel with bad tank breather. As the heat causes the gas to expand in tank without ventilation it can pop off the needle valves flooding the engine out....

Good luck.
