Alright, I have lots of experience buying running/good jet skis but not a ton of experience buying broken jet skis. I have rebuilt top ends, but never a bottom end before. Overall I would feel I have a good knowledge of two stroke pwc motors.

I just found a killer deal on an 1100 ZXI but I wondering at which point does a broken ski become a bad deal (repairs to costly)? Mostly interested in the 1100 motor.

Guy said the ski doesnt run, he took off the head but realized he didnt know what he was doing and did not work on it any longer. Not sure what caused the ski to stop running. He said there is lots of oil in the bottom of the hull. I am worried this is caused by a hole in the motor. Is that a likely symptom?

Any tips advice would be greatly appreciated. I havent looked at the ski yet but am planning to meetup tonight.

Thanks in advance!

As long as you get it cheap enough and know how to do the work then it should work out. Basically It should be cheap enough that you can still walk away in the green even if you have to toss the entire engine in the trash and buy another one. Do a very close inspection and verify that there isn't more wrong with it than the owners says.

I bought a gp800 for my wife that needed one new cylinder and piston. Turns out it had 2 trashed pistons, a piston skirt had broken off, dropped down into the crank and punched the bottom out of the cases.

Another ski was absolutely mint inside and out but the engine would not spin. It was a salvage ski after a storm and the engine had sat for years full of salt water. The engine looked perfect on the outside but every single component part of it was trashed.
