NC Surf?

Sorry if this is in the wrong spot. Looking for a decent place to ride surf in NC. Would be nice to have some camping right where you can launch? I used to go to Carolina Beach, but since have gotten a camper and don't think she will make it across the sand there.

I used to surf ride off of Shackleford Bank. We would launch from the marina on the backside of Atlantic Beach. You could also launch from Beaufort.
The thing that made Shackleford Bank so attractive was the lack of people. There are no houses, hotels, or burger joints. The only thing out there are horses and birds, for the most part. This allows you a lot more freedom, not having to dodge beach goers.
