mysterious sxr engine problem

Hi, I have an sxr that has engine problems that I am not sure what is caused by. For the first few minutes of a ride, the ski runs fine but if I turn it off or roll it on its side than it starts to bog down when reving up and only runs at 4-5 mph max under full throttle. It does this every time I ride it. I took it to the garage and the mechanic is not sure what the problem is. Do you guys know what could be causing the problem? The ski is all stock except the paint job.

Thank you

Disconnect your Exhaust Temp Sensor, it probably has a short. You can replace it or leave it disconnected. Mine acted up in Daytona last year, pull the sensor plug off and it ran fine.

It causes the ski to go into "Limp Mode". I have NOT replaced mine. I ran the entire season with it disconnected.

Where is the exhaust temp sensor located on the stock exhaust?

Thanks

It's located on the head pipe of the exhaust. Trace the plug back near the e-box and unplug it there. I left everything in place, just wrapped the plug going back to the e-box in electrical tape and a zip tie, so it doesn't short somehow.

Thank you. I'll keep you guys updated about what happens.
