Custom/Hybrid My standup

I named this thread "my standup", and not my SN or SJ or etc as i dont really know the direction ill be heading down the road. if money allows, a AM hull is the goal, but getting there may be difficult. This thread will be mainly used to log progress, and keep track of work/parts.

For those who don't know me, my name is Nate. I am a full time student, finishing my highschool which i didnt when i was 18. I am a fairly outspoken person, and have no humility. I'm also 6'9", so most know me for my height, which can be funny to see on a ski thats the same size or smaller. With introductions out of the way, i started on the water in July 2013. Traded an ATC to get a sit down, then got hooked on a SJ thanks to Fellows and Randen. Theres something freeing about the water i just cant get elsewhere. IM usually at the lake 2-4 times per week minimum.

My first SJ is a minty '94 SN, with a 650 motor. Stock besides the coffman sizzler, it got my feet wet in the sport of standups. Last ride was mid Nov '13, and we are now 100% frozen over. This winter i have decided i wanted to skip the downtime of summer builds, and go for a nice all around setup. i landed on a bunch of killer used deals. Big thanks to the guys hooking me up! No hull mods will be made, at least not to this hull.

Heres the plan.

61X/61x Resleeved Ported 762BB
44m SBN Mikuni
MSD or ATP ignition (haven't ordered one yet)
ATP Red Head, 35cc and 40cc domes
Coffman Sizzler port matched and bored
AM/Shortened rn pole (still up in the air)
Hooker 11/17 (used)
Solas 12 vane stator (also used)

I also picked up a few small things. finger throttle, gasket kits, tools, new bucket, and a nice set of NOS ADA thermostats.

I have almost everything to start building the motor, the goal is burnt fuel Feb 1st. Any comments, questions, ideas, suggestions, etc.. im very open to. i am new to this and want to hear what your thoughts are, good or bad.

Nate

The 11/17 rips on a bb I was also using one on a 701 with the right combinations of bolt ons it seemed to work half decent aswell you just have to be willing to tune a pump

6'9" and I would imagine close to 200 lbs. if not over on a stock 650? I bet she felt a little sluggy. 94 was the first year with a 701, was the 650 swapped in? Good luck with the build!

Do yourself a favor and dual tap the pump while you have it out and bore the nozzle.

Good guess, yea i am just under 200, im pretty light but have zero body fat. the 650 was swapped in, as the motor was used by the previous owner for his waveblaster. it was bone stock pump wise so yea, felt a bit slow but much improved over my waverunner 650 from 1990. the solas is dual tapped, so that not a problem. this pump was alex_hockey's setup, so i will be chatting with him when it comes to borin the nozzel out.

Im waiting on a flywheel puller so that i can get to the crank i need from the 650 block. after that, its game on!

Heres the ski.

My best friend is 6'9 too but he weighed about 270 in this picture. Just for reference what you would look like riding an x2.

That is hilarious^ he doesn't look like he would be comfortable riding that x2. Back problems after the 1st ride.

CRJ- I can't wait to get my motor pulled and working on it. I see you plan on going way high on bore. How pricy was it to have that cylinder re sleeved? I'm considering looking for a 62t top end to do the same thing you are. Looking good!

The cylinder, pistons and head i bought used, already done, so i have no idea on cost. I can safely run the bore up to 86mm, which is 790, so lots of life left. porting was done by i think a guy from cold fusion, could be wrong though.

Got the flywheel off thanks to a buddy, we had a parts swap meet up so it was a good time. the coupler is off also, and the 650 motor is ready to split and give up its crank. I think i have everything i will need, just need to spend a day and sit down and build it. Im excited to hear it run!

went and bought a flywheel puller (on sale) and a dremel kit. got the case done to my liking. next is to bore the exhaust to match the cylinders. its a pretty close match already. should start building next week, maybe even this weekend.

yamahabond or 3bond 1211. both available at any motorsports dealer or online. I get yamahabond from my local stealership. make sure those case halves are squeaky clean before assembly and do a leak down test after the motor is assembled! do it right the first time.

Any solvent should work, simple green, orange power, carb cleaner, starting fluid etc. Then hit it with the air compressor.

no i havent. but i learned to flip the top case upside down, put the crank in it to line up the pins, then drop the bottom case on with sealant. waiting on ATP o-rings, then ill get it back together.
