My head is on fire...

Why the hell am I over heating?
I just got the superjet running, 650 motor with ROGO head, MSD Enhancer, Coffy Pipe, Air Filter, clean-up Porting. I forget exactly, butI think I am running a 135 main jet and a 60 low, with a 2.0 needle and seat. I got the bottom end dialed in today, and noticed water filling in the bilge when the motor ran. I did some searching and noticed a cooling line misisng a clamp, the one coming in from the jet pump, new clamp, problem solved. At the same time I noticed the motor was runnin extremely hot when it was leaking, I was hoping the fresh clamp would fix the over heating but it didnt. The head gets so hot that I can't even touch it without burning myself and screaming "&*#%". The motor actually steams it is so hot.
Why am I running so hot? I know for a fact this isnt normal, everything is fresh and the motor was apart for the porting and I was told that the motor looked very good and no problems. ALl the seals are fresh as well. The only thing I can think is the cooling set up, which I am pretty sure is done right. But just for kicks and grins, does anybody have a diagram for the cooling set up for a Coffman 650 pipe?
I need suggestions!

Thanks dudes!

sounds like a clog possibly. undo your lines, one at a time, and blow air through them. if ones clogged, you found your problem.

also, make sure that the bilge and pump lines arent mixed up at the bulkhead.

Old bilge pump line it capped off, gone. The lines on the bulk head are all hooked up correctly, Ill check for clogs next. Any other ideas?
Thanks sfl, who knew you were actually of any real help? :joke:

Hm, thats not quit how my cooling is routed.
King, quick question, since it is kind of hard to tell for sure in the picture:
(I only have one fitting on my head)

So I run my pump line to the exhaust manifold. Then the head pipe to the head on the motor.

Where is the pisser, and the line to the stinger coming from?

Thanks mucho dudes.

The stinger is fed by the fitting at the end of the head pipe before it goes into the chamber. The pisser is dumped from the extra fitting on the side of headpipe at the manifold.

Dude! Why are you running a 60 pilot jet?

My bad...according to what I have written down Im runing a 110 pilot :sneaky:

I have to pull my carb and double check that, the numberon the pilot when I put it in I could have sworn looked like it said 60.

My cooling:
I have two fitting on the bottom of exhaust manifold. The line from the pump is Tee'd to these two fitting. Then there is a fitting on the side of the head pipe, and on top/front of the head pipe. The side of the head pipe goes to the head, and the top of the head pipe goes to the stinger with a T for the pisser. What am I missing? And why the hell does this seem so complicated?
I think I need to re-read that thread again..

EDIT: I think I have to fittings on the head pipe switched, and that is causing my problems? The line on the top/front of the head pipe should be going to the head on motor, not the stinger, and the fitting on the side of the head pipe should be going to the stinger instead of the head on the motor. That sounds about right, that would also explain why my stinger was getting so hot as well, since there was a lack of water coming out of the head to the stinger...
Thanks millions for the help guys.

Sounds to me like you have them reversed. The line to the stinger comes from the fitting right before the chamber. The one on top of the headpipe At the manifold goes to the head. You can also add another T in the hose to the stinger and dump it overboard but since I was already drying out the exhaust with the one on the headpipe I chose not too.

I think i got it figured out, I switched the lines. I have the line from the top of the head pipe T'd, running to the head, and overboard. The the side fitting on the head pipe running to the stinger.
The head is a lot cooler now, it still steams, but it was really cold and wet out. But I was able to hold my hand on the head for more then three seconds so we should be good. Ill post a picture later.
Thanks everyone.
