Super Jet My 90 sj will cut out after awhile. Temp gauge?

I will run it and take it on a few laps try some freestyle and that's all it takes. The engine will cut out and if I start it it will run momentarily and then quit. Let it sit it will run for maybe 15 sec. It gets hot more than it used to I never had this problem until I let my friends ride it. But I think it's the temp gauge. Hat some gunk coming out cleaned it and I haven't tested it yet hope it works

Did you try putting a few drops of water on the head or pipe? Does it sizzle? Have you tried blowing air through all the cooling lines and engine? Why does this post feel like a chitty facebook update?

If it gets hot more than it used to, then the temperature gauge isn't the problem as it is working as it should (assuming that's what is cutting it out). Did you try the usual suspects?
- internal filters in carb
- on/off/res switch clogged
- pebble or something stuck in cooling line

What did you mean when you said "had some gunk coming out"...?

Sorry about the the chatty post I was in a hurry and my iPad was acting up. Well it's not steaming I tried putting water on it to cool it off. No sizzle. Tbh I don't know what I'm looking at its my first ski. Could be the filters the fuel tank has epoxy in it from putting a fill neck in the tank. Well it was some yellowish stuff. I cleaned it put some grease on it put it back in. What lines should I check? I have a spare cdi box that's not what could be causing it right? I'll try and check them.

How can I tell? When it cuts out I can start it for a few seconds then it cuts out. Let it sit runs a bit longer. Then if I just leave it alone for an hour it's fine until it runs for maybe 10 15 min. I'm finally getting the title for it today hopefully so I'll take it out and have more detail on what it's doin when I come back

I had the same exact problem after I rebuilt my carbs. Turned out that I damaged the diaphragm when installing and it would not hold fuel pressure. Only ran when I had a full tank, then it would cut out towards half tank.

Few months later, I had the same problem again, but it turned out this time it was the CDI. I had zero spark and it would not start up even for 10-15mins like yours.

Pretty sure epoxy in your fuel would clog the :):):):) out of your filters. Id clean everything up, get a carb rebuild and and get new gas before your engine explodes. Then try your spare CDI box if that wasn't the problem, if that doesn't solve the problem, multi meter stuff in your ebox.

Worse problems to find are ones that dont happen all the time, so your readings might look good, but could fluctuate after a bad connection from a wake or something

lol well i have spark, and i hooked it up to the hose yesterday and a clam shell shot out the back.. im hoping that little sucker was clogged up in there somewhere and thats the problem. i just had my cdi apart a month back and everything checked out. i def need to get a new fuel filter. but i dont think any went past the filter its all big chunks. yeah i need to get back out on the lake i was hoping to test it sunday but work was like ohh by the way. we need you :) nice people. but see it was starting but it would run for like 5 sec
