We went and did her first trail ride yesterday and she rocked it. We went twice as far as I figured we would on the trail plus did a bunch of bike/walk path after and even got a short hike in to boot. It was really nice to spend time with her and no kids...

PEPTO BIMAL!!!! Shoulda went flat black with pink accents LOL.

How old was that Gary Fischer? I have an 09' GF and a 99 (I think) Specialized Stumpjumper. I like the GF but prefer the Stumpjumper.
I really need to pull them off the wall and make use of them LOL.

It was a 99 GF Hoo Koo E Koo, the last year they were steel. I traded the frame to the bike shop in exchange for them pulling the crankset/bottom bracket out for me. They play on building it into a shop bike for errands.

The steel frames had their advantages, but I prefer lighter myself. I bought the wifey a Hardrock Full Suspension bike last year and she road it once and said, NAH I aint feeling it LOL. basically traded it for the GF 19" the next day through CL. I like the Idea of the Disk brakes on the GF but they need upgraded to hydro for sure.

Think I will get out tomorrow and let them pound on me through some trails LOL. Its gonna be painfull the first week back on em.

Everyone says Avid BB7 are **the** mechanical disks to get. I plan on switching her bike to them once I upgrade her wheels to disk-compatible.

I might try to organize a jetskier-mountain bike ride up at Brown County Indiana this summer. Just something laid back, but their trail system is awesome from what everyone says.

Guess I better start hitting the trails now to get ready. I would be down for that? How far up from you is that?

A little over an hour north of Louisville. Indiana has a very active mtb association that is really connected with the state parks and building trails all the time. Brown County is **the** place to go in this region apparently and I plan on getting up there soon.

My wife is considering doing the women's clinic there in June and I want to do the Breakdown in October too.

BB7's are really good as far as mech brakes go. I have read where some people prefer them over hydro's.

One thing I don't like about my Shimano hydraulics is they don't pull the pads back very far. If you have even a slight warp to your rotors, they will rub. The mechanicals pull back further supposedly plus it's pretty quick/easy to replace a cable compared to a new hose/bleeding.

warpage seems to be a huge issue with the disks regardless of hydro or mech.. I cant figure out how the hell they get warped. Havent hit them on anything that I know of, but the son does ride it from time to time sooooo?????

I sold it today for $250 which is way less than what I had in it, but oh well. The new 29"er has officially taken it's place.
