MSD Total Loss... Run off battery?

Quick question...

I know the MSD Total Loss system does not recharge the battery.

That being said, is the MSD Total Loss system actually running off of the battery, and just using the two triggers to tell it when to fire?

The reason I ask, is I am running my system off a pretty big gel cell battery but thinking about getting one of those little guys. NOT running bilge pumps. My ride time will be about 30 min a tank (cart tank).

Yes it all runs off the battery. The older analogs used more battery power than the new digital systems. If you really need that little battery, you might want to buy a couple just in case.
I dont really know much about those little batteries specs or have any real usage with a TL system.

I use a sealed Power Source battery with my digital system and get tons of time out of it, but you know it weighs a lot!

Buy one and test it and let me know how long of riding time you get out of it! lol

This is what I thought, just wanted some verification. Thank you sir.

Most fuel I have yet to burn before I threw the battery on a tender was maybe 9 gallons.

I shall stick with this battery - no reason to switch.

I forgot!
Roo, i run a 7lbs battery on my total loss and it will last two tanks (20L) with minimal starts. Steve has the etx12 (9.2lbs) and he has only actually run it dead once when he forgot to charge it. we both don't run the bilge unless we need to save our ski. my next battery this spring will be the etx12. it will run for 4-5 hours without bilge and with plenty of starts.

I hope you guys are running scuppers or something. Otherwise the weight you save by running a small battery with no bilge is probably being made moot by all the extra water in your hull.

Eh' if you are running Total Loss, it is pretty safe to assume a jetski is pretty modded... scupper being one of them, especially for freestyle :swordfight:

Sorry, should have stated.

Thanks for sharing sir.

I haven't even weighed this one I am using now. If it is in the 9 LBS range, I'll just stick with it until I really need to get a new one.

I remember a time when the scupper was not your best of friends!:scratchchin:

That is a sore, sore subject. :slap: I'd be a grand richer if it were not for that leaky POS.

Lesson learned - don't let the 'ski float for a few minutes while 'partyin'.

St. Clair is pretty much out of the question next year unless I come up with a bigger tank... so around the local lake when I am not riding I can beach very easily.
