MSD Enhancer issues

So after 14+ years my MSD Enhancer took a poop (I think.) It went bad at the exact same time my stator rattled loose and grenaded so the timing on it going bad seems a little suspect, but after swapping in a good stator and getting the ski running on an OEM 61x CDI I am still only getting spark when I let off the start button when the MSD is installed. (Also getting same symptom with another MSD that a buddy had laying around that he didn't know if it was good or not.)


My question before I buy a new MSD to use while my TL gets sorted out is: Could the symptom I am having with these two MSD's be caused by A) not getting power to unit (powered off starter relay) or B) from a bad/insufficient ground or C) ???.

If in fact both these MSD's are bad, has anyone had any success with fixing this issue by "baking" the MSD's and brought one back to life?

I would rather not spend $300 just so I can ride for a month till my TL is sorted, but I need to do something because the stock CDI is not cutting it with my setup.

I just had a very old one take a crap on me. only started when I let off the button and then got even worse with backfiring. put in another msd and it worked fine for a few weeks. now it only starts when I let off the button. put in a stock modified cdi and it starts fine. still need to water test to see if Its rideable without an msd. there aint no fix. when they pull the let off the button to start, they are done. it wasn't caused by a bad ground. I had multiple grounds all over the place since I put this setup in there to replace a total loss

Not sure if the white wires got mixed up in the diag, you may also already be aware of this or checked it already. The long white wire from the MSD goes to the Wr wire on the harness, if the short white wire is on the Wr wire then it sparks when you release the start button. If it was sparking when releasing the start button before you installed the 61x cdi then it's not this lol.

What he said^^ Also make sure you have the correct black wire on the coil.
