You'll get more instant bang for your buck with TL, but you'll be setup for even bigger gains in the future if you get the engine work now and wait on the ignition. If you're going to BB sleeves you'll be fine with OEM 38's. Depending on where you run your compression the jetting won't be hard to tune. TL is a huge increase in performance over stock or MSD enhancer. It's a bit time consuming on the initial setup, but you'll learn a bunch along the way. It's a worthwhile project. TL is my choice. If you go with RIVA make sure you follow their recommendations to a 'T' so you get all the gains they promise.

MSD T/L Is like crack-once you taste it you can never go back!!! When I built my Lamey BB stroker motor I was severley dis-appointed UNTIL I added the MSD T/L. Having been there and done that-I would get the T/L 1st and then do motor work UNLESS you are going to do them close to the same time.

Fresh water, go TL hands down! I added TL and could never give it up. I went from a 61x/61x single carb setup to a BB with dual carbs and was happy but the increase was not as spectacular as TL. The engine and carbs were a lot more expensive too.

If you're riding saltwater, you probably don't need the extra TL power.
However....if you do (or you have a flatwater boat that you take to the surf occasionally and need it to work), then the ATP Flame TL is the way to go. It's never given me trouble in saltwater.

Northwest sleeve Co will install theory big bore sleeves answer and duo some light porting for 550$ our so.includes sleeves labor light port (basically port match) cylinder bore hone and cylinder deck fyi... Peru good deal if you ask me. And the port time stock on the sleeves is pretty damn good

People that setup MSD T/L correctly don't have trouble in saltwater..........

And you and I both know that those people are few and far between.
I'm not one of them, so I have to resort to something that fits in the stock ebox.

If my dumb azz can do it-ANYONE can! It just takes ALOT of time and PATIENCE! It takes me 8 hours to build a T/L wire harness, knock on wood-all the ones I have built are still running strong thanks to Crammit for spending 1/2 his life teaching me everything he knows about T/L.

I have a stock 701 W/ bpipe. Dual 38's and 62t bottom. I have it all in a carbon gen 1 bob. I want low end and mid to backflip and rol and i also like to rec ride

You need to determine if the Riva top end cylinders is a superstock BB with Riva flattop pistons.
If so you would need everything to get it to run hard off the bottom.
MSD TL, big carbs and intake manifold and some pretty high compression domes with a carefully set up pump.
Riva's SS BB is just that, a superstock porting job to run high RPM's and will suffer greatly off the bottom without a full package setup.

Go pick an engine builder and stay with a tuned package.

I'm with the guys for TL before a bad mis-matched ported SS cylinder without all of the goodies.

MSD TL setup correctly performs fine in saltwater, just like Gil said.. It takes some time to setup msd correctly.. My LPW flagship ski had msd TL setup by XS, rode that ski every week in saltwater...

As for the flame I'll keep my mouth shut...

Like supertune said, don't just bolt some cylinder on... Most skis that rip are setup by a builder (carbs, compression, porting, etc)...

Maybe send your cylinder to Jetmaniac for a top end port and bore.. Runs with your oem 38's, etc, etc...

Also summit racing sells the msd TL kit for around $1250-1300 last time I checked... I wouldn't suggest used msd TL systems

I would go with a solas mag our a Northwest big bore setup. Both around 500 and will give you a noticeable change in power with out a headache. My tl theory is that if you have too ask about it then your in over your head. And brains get expensive real quick

Haha, everyone has questions when they are first getting into t/l. It took me a while to bulletproof mine with lots of help from xh2o members. I think you will get more power for your money with t/l.
