I have recently come across two Kawi Standups both are 550s and one is an '85 and one is an '87. They come on a double trailer that can be loaded side by side with two ski's or for just one you can put a single ski in the center. Both skis have been sitting for a while and need a battey, one needs a starter. Both skis ran when they were parked the last time. Do you guys think this is a good deal? And how hard is it to but a 650 or larger engine into one of those skis? Is that possible?

depends how good of a deal you get.
i picked up 2 550's when i was starting out, both needed batteries and that was about it. i paid 575 for both with a trailer.
this year i sold one 550 by its self no trailer for almost that.
when it all comes down to nickles and dimes, if you can get a good deal and make some money go for it, they will still be fun and you will learn a bunch, if the sucker dies part it out.
but if your really a die hard and want to love the sport get an sj and be done with it.
from my 550 to the superjet is night and day difference.

not worth your time or effort unless you had the motor already.
the 550 is pretty potent. a 550 reed motor with some goodies is pretty crazy.

If you can find one, the old Coffmans half pipe that fit on the stock head pipe was a pretty good pipe. I had one on my 87' 550 and it would run with a stock 94 701 SJ. Radar clocked at 45 mph, if you could stay on that long. If you can get by with just batteries then they might be worth it to just have something to ride. Sell them off next spring, keep the trailer, and find a good used SJ and have lots more heaps O fun. :biggthumpup:
It's tough to find SJ's around here (Eastern WA). It's even harder to find one for under 1k.
