Measuring cylinder bore

Can I use a digital caliper to measure the bore of the cylinder? If so what's the best way to do it. I need to rebuild my top end and want to see what's the next size up I should go. I have a 61x/62T setup.

Yes, you may use dig. calipers, but only to find out if the bore is standard (81mm), or has been oversized with previous boring. You cannot measure bore wear unless you have a telescoping gauge or expanding mikes. Usually you can just look at the bore and tell if it is worn too much (visually comparing the top- unworn- part of the bore with farther down.). Pistons wear faster than the bore in 2 strokes, so it's often possible to just use new pistons and rings. Should you have gouges or other wear marks, you may need to have the cyl. bored to the next oversize.- Usually 1/2mm more.
