Me vs a carbon fiber hull - guess who won?

Lost my footing jumping wake at about 10-15' up, full throttle on the Trinity. Landed on my left foot with the tray and the back corner of the boat went all ginsu on my right shin. Rode 1/2 mile or so home with my knees on the rails.

The good news is the right shin didn't break any bones; the 3" gash just required 2 layers of stitches. Was freaky to watch a little artery pissing out a 12" stream of blood in time with my heartbeat. Sutures come out in 10 days, only need to keep it dry till the weekend.

The bad news? Broken left 5th metatarsal - seeing the orthopedic doc Friday. Crutches and a walking cast - my foot's swelled up like a football.

Tasty pics from the hospital...

Guess I'm off for the next month; more time to concentrate on my wife's build. :)

What the hell is a metatarsal?

I had to look it up from the hospital bed. :)

It's the long skinny main bones in your feet; 1 leads to each toe. I snapped the one that connects up to my pinky toe. I'm hoping because it's that one, it'll heal faster...

Holey Crap that is a big cut... I my leg is barely that thick below the knee. Hope you recover quickly I know it will take a while for that foot bone to heal. But how did the trinity hold up? You didn't report on that...

The Trinity held up perfect, not a scratch on it from the incident. The more I ride it, the more I appreciate how great of a hull design it is; I'll go back to back with a stock hull just to keep improving. For the first time, I rode it today with my feet in the holds with it just idling - it's ridiculously stable.

Just sucks I probably won't get to ride it for a month or so... I'll be stuck playing on the RXPX with a plastic bag around my leg. :p

I feel your pain, I hope you heel fast. Stories like these make me even more glad I take the time to put my shin guards on everytime I ride.
