I think I'll take on that glass work myself. Can I just buy a sheet of the smooth cloth from Home Depot or is something more specific needed. Thanks for the help. While you got turf up. I would add a layer of glass or carbon on the tray turning up the sides. Many a feet have gone thru the tray of SN's.
Use epoxy resin only, great place for supplies: www.uscomposites.comI think I'll take on that glass work myself. Can I just buy a sheet of the smooth cloth from Home Depot or is something more specific needed. Thanks for the help.
Great time to do footholds too!Use epoxy resin only, great place for supplies: www.uscomposites.com
Buy medium set epoxy and 12 oz biax cloth from us composites. Clean the area with acetone. Use a dremel or grinder or both to grind the area down to the composite material which is a weird brown plastic on sn superjets called metton. Vacuum up mess and wipe with acetone again and let it dry. Cut the cloth to match up with where you have prepared the surface. Try to do it with one piece only if possible. Wet the surface with some epoxy. Lay the cloth on it with the chop side down and work epoxy into the cloth until it is all wet. 1 layer of 12oz biax will be plenty. Let it dry overnight then come back and grind off any sharp edges sticking up. Job done.
Thank you. I'll get to it and let you know how I do.I think he is recommending the thin 635 system with 3:1 resin/hardener ratio kit (medium set speed). That is what I use. I would recommend buying the pump tops and disposable cups too, makes mixing easy.
I have been thinking about what you said about footholds at this time. I have the pre cut turf kit from black tip. Is it possible to use a kit like this with foot holds? Would I just need to glue some small pieces of foam or turf in the pocket area if the holds?Great time to do footholds too!
You can easily piece it together, it does take extra material for footholds. You will want padding under the turf and also pad and turf the tops and insiders of the footholds anywhere your foot contacts. I am a big fan of large holds like Tom21's with lots of padding shaped to fit your foot.I have been thinking about what you said about footholds at this time.
