Lowered handpole brackets...

Do all lowered brackets lower the handpole the same amount and move it forward? I am guessing no, but I just bought a used wamiltons hood and want to make sure I get a bracket that will work well for me....

What differences might I expect with an aftermarket bracket compared to stock? Just so I don't get any surprises.... like anything I have to order partswise to make an aftermarket bracket work with my stock pole?

Thanks.

the stock pole will work with almost any brackket...its the hood that might be the problem with the stock pole
i know my pole never sat down in the crevice causing it to rub up front
but the advantages
...its just alot better than stock bracket
lowers you and is stronger

I see.... so the stock pole is wider than aftermarket? Are you talking about the wamiltons hood with a stock pole specifically? Or just any lowered hood in general with the stock pole does not fit right...

My crevice do you just mean where the pole fits down onto the hood? Why would it rub only at the front?

Ok... I got the wamiltons hood on ebay and a lowed nose piece from a guy that is making them on here... I assumed those 2 pieces will fit together pretty flush... maybe not?

I just want a bracket that will make my pole sit right on the hood...

You still use a pole spring the lower setup right? or no?

Ok... I got a reply from the guy who is making me the nose piece... the nose piece is a very close match to wamiltons so it will go very good with my new hood.

Now I just have to figure out if different lowered brackets will change my setup will fit together... will all lowered brackets give me the same result????

most lowered brackets are the same height within 1/4 in or so.some use a spring, others don't.it depends on the brand but you can rig it so it works.
at the pivot point, the oem pole is the same width as most aftermarket.you can always recut the flanges of the bushings if too tight.

it only rubs at the front on the sides...it narrows as it gets to the bottom and only allows the pole to go down so far

i put some ht layerd up so it would only go down so far and wouldnt crack anything

and yes this is with the wammer hood...i think a few others do it as welll im not sure

i just upgraded my pole tho

well i have a an old watercraft factory hood.. OLD one... and an X metal bracket.... Put my stock pole on there and it looked so stupid IMO.. thats why i sold the CF pole... also i could have cut a finger off wedging it between the hood and pole.. now i bought an x metal pole and WOOT.... way better... n e ways.. oo ya for alot of lowered brackets you need a slight mod to get the pole to extend upwards...

Ok... so the problem is not the hood or the bracket... it is the stock pole being too wide...

Does this happen with any aftermarket hood and stock handpole? Damn.... I might have to sell my wamiltons hood before I even install it.... I was not planning on buying an aftermarket pole.... that's a 300-500 dollar expense minimum that I was not planning on spending.

I do NOT want my pole hanging up in the air... that won't work for me.

No you will be able to make it work.. it fits.. just there is SO little clearance.. and the pole sits higher then the well in the hood... dont sell ur stuff...

the stock pole is not TOO wide to fit in the pole well on the hood.. its just a little dangerous IMO...

ur pole will fit.. you just need to modify the bottom of ur pole so the pole will go UP all the way

Basically I have to buy an aftermarket pole then if I want to get this setup to work and be safe then?

Which pole should i buy to make it most safe? I assume I will be looking for one that is skinier than the stock pole so I dont get my fingers smashed and stuff... or will it be really not that safe with any pole using this hood?

you are safe either way...it will work look at my pics...x metal bracker wammer hood stock pole it worked for months

nothing to worry about

one of my pics is of it up
and two of it down
if u want a new pole get one ...i think it looks wayy better but you may run the stock pole and hood and after market bracket together

you'll be fine with that hood and any lowered bracket and stock pole if you want. I'm running an XMW lowered bracket with my stock hood and an AC racing pole... no problem. The Wammer lowered bracket is virtually identical to the XMW bracket. and the AC pole is nearly the same width as the OEM pole.

Well I guess the problem according to people isnt the bracket... it's the hood and stock pole combination.

It seems that the stock pole just doesnt go well with the wamiltons hood and nosepiece.... I didnt really want to buy an aftermarket pole, but if I want my ski to look sano then I guess I kinda have to.

As you can see from the pics above, the stock pole does not sit well on the wamiltons hood. I don't know if it is JUST this hood with the stock pole, or if it's every aftermarket hood with stock pole does not sit right.

I want to be able to do hood tricks as well as all the other tricks I plan on learning next year. with the pole sticking up like that it would be pretty tough to be sliding around on the hood...

http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/10978&highlight=lenzi+hand+hood

This thread ^^^^^^^^should be an advertisement for x-metal handpoles... from what I have seen between the looks of the xmetal and stock poles on aftermarket hoods - it is manditory! (as far as looks go..)

BTW- a lot of hood advertisements make reference to lenzi's injury.... did he get his hand caught between the hood and the handpole or something? Is this wammer hood with the xmetal pole going to be prone to getting that injury? Should I look at other hoods perhaps to avoid this injury? Don't know that much about it. Fill a brotha in!

Since I bought the wammer hood on ebay for a pretty good deal I was just going to use the stock pole cut down...

since opening this thread I now plan on using the x-metal pole so there is not such a tight gap... is this gap still going to be too tight using the x-metal pole?

Should I consider getting another hood? Like 24-7 or xft? Those were my original choices, but I got this wammer hood cuz I good a good deal on it... are wammer hoods crappy design cuz of this gap? Or is the gap problem solved using an x-metal pole?

that hood's got hand holds right? just make sure to use them and not put your hand between on the hood where the pole comes down. you should be perfectly fine with the hood you bought.
