As the title states, I'm looking from some input from the guys that have been down this road before.
Some back ground.
I have a 1990 SN which had a 61x 701 in it. Full coffmans exhaust, PJS water box, Westcoast head, MSD enhancer, solas concord 14/18, protech trim system. I lost a lower rod bearing which took the rear cylinder and head with it (i think).
Does my westcoast head have replaceable domes or is it junk?
It looks like part of the needle bearing came up the rear cylinder and got caught in one of the transfer ports taking a small chunk out. Is this repareable or junk?
I just picked up a complete 62T setup out of a 95 wave venture. Complete with carbs and electrics. This motor has ~ 200 hours on it and I don't think its ever been apart. Compression is at about 125 both cylinders.
Heres what I had in mind.
Take the crank, cylinders and head of the 62T and rebuild my 61X with a fresh top end and hold on to it for a spare motor or to drop into another SN in the future or sell.
Purchase one of Jetmaniacs rebuilt cranks and a good used 61x cylinder and rebuild the 62t with all fresh internals or build the 62t up as a 760. I will also need a new head guessing my current one isn't usable. Any suggestions on a head. Will a milled stocker work just as good as a non griddled aftermarket?
All comments welcome.
