I am installing my new ADA head and in my yamaha manual it says to apply Loctite 572. Two questions:
1) ADA directions do not say to use it, so do I?
2) What is it, I have been on Loctites website and cannot find it for chit

Okay 3: what have you guys done or used in this install.

Thanks.

a little loctite on the girdle bolts and a little grease on the orings to hold them in place is all you need.

you can also silicone around the girdle bolts where they go through the cylinder. i have done this to prevent salt from locking the girdle bolt in the case.

I used whatever was in the toolbox at the time... not sure if it was blue or red.

i want to say red. but i might be wrong.

make sure you clean the threads well before installing the girdle studs.(otherwise the stud wont go in all the way) i had to run a bolt all the way into mine then use the air compressor to blow out some crap in the hole on one or two.

do you use blue or red?
The blue thread locker is "medium strength", I suggest using that. The red is for larger fasteners and considered "high strength". I only use it on the large nut of the UMI steering.
It would also be indicated for the 4 cap screws which retain the bed plate to the crank case on KAWI 650/750.

I NEVER use red, that is way overkill. Blue is all you need, I've never needed anything stronger. Red is a bitch when you're taking things apart.

ADA says to use grease or antiseize on the studs going into the case hand tight...if you loctite acorn nuts it will turn your studs out when you loosen acorns...also Matt at ADA suggests silicon around the studs at the cylinder base to keep water out...or you can use tiny o-rings like Chuckie has said before on here...
