heres the sitch.... 14' whaler, 62t 701, single 44mm , stock pipe, 175 lbs psi riva head, concord 13.17 impeller. probably over 1000 lbs plus me and gas....... when i go anywhere between 3/4 and full throttle, i hear knocking/pinging sound after about 5 seconds that lasts until a few seconds of idle....... runs and rides kiler.....

my guess is too steep an impeller with too high a compression with alotta weight. = need less compressin or lower pitch impleller

any thoughts? (smartass comments welcome too)?

Too much load, need better gas and lower pitch prop, stock head might help.

pull 701, drop in, small block 350 with strait headers, and upgrade pump to jet boat 200mm !

That'll move that beotch ! :smokin:

Or try taking old fuel out, and running a tank of 93 thru it !

jett, refoaming is out of the question.

rick, propping up will make the problem worse.

pete, both tanks were drained and filled with 93 octane gas mixed w/ yamalube @ 50:1

kennay, richening the hi adjustor only makes the rpms fall off at lower points in the throttle range, but it doesnt help the pinging.

scorn, good call. after speaking with wcf and impros, im going to try an 85mm nozzle. that seems like the easiest and most logical way to handle this (for starters).
