kill switch question

I forgot!
I am having problems shutting off my ski. sometimes it will shut off normal and other times i press the kill switch and nothing happens. That is when i usually yank the ski around and ride back out from shore for and keep riding for anywhere between 30 seconds to 2 minutes and then the ski shuts off as if i hit the kill switch. I am wondering what actually happens when you press the red button. On stock ignitions i am thinking you press the button and do not have to hold it down to kill the motor. On total loss systems you have to hold it until the motor stops spinning. Does the kill switch ground out spark on the coil or does it just give a signal to the cdi to stop spark? If i know how it kills the motor i may be able to find the problem as it is some what sparatic. Yesterday when riding a new problem occured as well. ski ran great but once in a while would not rev up more then a high idle. the more throttle i give it the more it would sputter/backfire (as if only getting a bit of spark). It would fire up and idle back to shore perfect....and not shut off. :banghead: i am going to cut back the plug wires, clean all connectors, and crack open the e-box to check the grounds in there. If any of you guys have some ideas i am open to checking them out to see if it will fix it. I hate sparatic electical problems, and i believe them to be related.

I haven't tested it yet, but after pulling the e-box apart i noticed that I had split up the 5 grounding connections, two grounds on one screw and three on the other screw. The box was dry but the ground screws/connectors had some white crusties on them. I think it should be good now that i cleaned them up and put them all on one screw in the box. I hope that is what was wrong, after i hit the kill switch the msd could ground out the coil 100% of the time. That is if indeed how the kill switch works. I am going to put on some msd wires/boots before i seal up the box. Hope it works.

nope it didn't work  i changed the coil and cleaned the battery ground, disconnected the kill switch too. it rode perfect for maybe 4-5 minutes then it starts cutting out. Its pretty inconsistent too, i can let the motor cool a bit and start it back up and it may still be doing it, or it may run fine. The motor will not die but only sparks enough for idle. it sputters and misses if i give it gas. I just used a ohm meter on the stator wires and cross checked them with one on the shelf and they read the same. I was going to swap them but not sure if it is the problem. I am not sure if stators read good but can still be bad. Maybe i will swap them. The next thing is the enhancer??? Any input? did i miss something that should be checked? How high does the motor rev when the overheat/holeshot feature is engaged? Any help would be appreciated.
