i rode one for two days in the az desert(which is a ton of tight single track). great bike, i loved it. flickable like a 125 with a lil more grunt.

If you're going to ride aggressively the KTM is way better
I'm not sure about the 200, but my dad's 300xcw's gear spacing is awkward to me, and would prefer the xc model with the clos'er' spaced tranny ratios.
The wide ratio tranny is nice for dualsport type riding though.
The KDX is an excellent trail bike with suspension work and exhaust, but those items are a must.

Nah He will love the 2 stroke for a woods bike. I dont know why but in tight woods the 2 stroke is way better. The 200 is a great bike.

True. nice quick rev, light feel and easy starting if you fall or stall.
4 strokes wear me out in the woods, but I like them better in the open.
Other than open class 2 strokes.

i disagree. i have run the district 6 and PA state series on both a four stroke and a two stroke, and there is some really tight nasty slippery stuff in the series. i loved my 250f everywhere, it always started when i fell and is just better everywhere, there is honestly no place i would rather a 2 stroke in the woods. i put a catch tank on it for the radiator and never had an over heating problem. i was die hard two for for a long time but they are a thing of the past.

ride a 250f in slippery woods then ride a 200 or a 125 in the same stuff then come talk to me.......
