Last seaon I gutted my waterbox..e sound was nice and louder (the way I like engines to run )...nice deep grump...

Can I get of the waterbox completely? I think the old skis with the exhaust outlet on the nose had no w/b.

Coul I route the exhuasy pipe (rubber) via shorter way, eg. turning just after the engine, around it (not around tank) and out? Or will the sonic wave be affected/not affected??

I need some good insight. My ski is a bored and ported 550 piston port.

All insights welcome ;)

Please don't.

All 440/550's had a waterbox in the front, some had a hose that went to the left front 'elephant tusk' exhaust, some had right side exhaust (mine), and some had rear exhaust.

There are 2 functions for a waterbox, one is to quieten it down, the other is to prevent water from flowing back into the engine after you shut it off in the water. I had issues with flooding my engine when I switched to a Jetcraft silencer up front with the right side exhaust. Every once in a while when I shut it off, it would backflow and fill the exhaust/engine with water. It was rare, but it happened. Your idea would be way worse.

yeah as far as mine goes, it fits pretty well.
we had to put some of the "good stuff" foam around it to hold it in place though
after three times of surf riding and having the waterbox come off the end of the pipe, it had to be done to keep the thing goin.
but other than that, the 650 waterbox works great :bigok:
