Kawasaki X2 for a first ski?

I have experience riding jet skis and I'm ready to buy my own. I was thinking of buying a Kawasaki X2. After doing research I've seen a variety of prices. Right now I'm eyeing up an X2 with a 750 big pin swap, westcoast head and pipe with modified carb and 750 electronics. What do you think would be a reasonable price?

I think the x2 is not a great starter ski. They break a lot. A lot of the 750 conversions have parts just randomly bolted together and are very poorly tuned. I love the x2, but there are much better starter skis. Just be careful what you buy and bring someone in the know. A blaster is a much better investment if you want to try to be on the water as much as possible.

The nice thing about starting with a kawi is that it'll make you appreciate a yamaha a lot more when you finally get one.

I think the kawis are good. My first boat was a 650sx and it was great except for the fact that it was so old it kept breaking. The x2 is the same as the 650sx in age but it also has additional design problems such as severe water ingestion issues and the small engine compartment makes it very hard to upgrade and end up with good tuning because of the pipes etc.

I think a 750sx is a just fine first boat if it were in good condition. Only reason I think the sn is the best starter boat is because almost everything is interchangeable to today's date. That makes it very easy to get it well tuned and find good condition reacement parts. The same goes for the b1 of you want a fixed steer. Easy to find most parts except pipes and steering, and that's just an issue of cost.

Wasn't sure from OP whether you have ridden an x2 or not- highly recommend you ride before you buy. I had read about them and was intrigued, but when I rode one I knew they were absolutely not for me. Same for the Blaster, cool skis just not for everyone.

It's all preference. I started with 550s, loved them, first X-2 was just as fun! Now have a superjet along with X-2s. Depends on what you want to do riding wise

I had 650 Kawis, both X2 and 650sx. Every 650 I have had was bulletproof. You couldn't break those skis internally. Cosmetically is another story. All I did was premix and charge the batteries and rode the river every day I owned one. I had modded ones that were just as reliable. IMO 650 Kawi motor is very reliable and extremely cheap to maintain.
