300/440/550 Js550 and 550sx

[SJ 701X]

I have a js 550 and am looking to interchange the engine with a 550 reed engine. How many different parts are interchangeable between the reed engine and piston port engine?

What parts are you talking about? Things that are the same: stator, exhaust mani, starter, flywheel, crank-rods, couplers... different: pistons, and induction system.. so it's mainly the jugs and intake they changed..

Thanks. I wanted to make sure my exhaust would work. Do I need an extension plate for a 44sbn like the piston port engine?

Idk what extension plate you needed? But reed motors came stock with a keihin carb.. so if you plan on running a mikuni, your going to have to find an aftermarket mani.. and most guys value them like gold..
