isntalling bendix, is this normal? see pic

installing my crispy jon ziglar supplied bendix (free advertising for jon right there...), take a look at the brass part in the flywheel, the pics are a little to decipher, but there is a swirled grove in that brass, is that normal, or did something get jammed in there and cause that?

thx.

The swirl is normal. The brass piece is a replaceable bushing.
Washer first, then spring, then another washer, then bendix.

The swirl groove is there to allow the grease to escape when you push the bendix in the bushing otherwise it would hydraulic and you could not push the bendix shaft into the bushing.
