Is my Enhancer done?

Here's the run down. Ski was starting to miss and then died in the lake. Towed it in. No power to starter. The brown wire from the start button is getting power to the ebox. All connections are good in and out of the ebox. Starter works fine when bypassed. Does this sound like a done MSD Enhancer? Any other stuff I should check out? Also... If I need a new enhancer, has anybody heard of any current good deals?

Thanks
Jay

Starter relay maybe? It's getting power from the battery, the small brown wire which goes to the starter switch and the small black wire. But no juice from the big lead going to the starter when I hit the start button.

Jump the two big lugs on the starter relay with a screwdriver or a wrench. Be prepared for a SPARK and the engine to turn over. If it turns over (and like you said previously your starter switch is getting good signal to the relay) then you have bad relay.

You said your ski was starting to miss and then it shut off, that is a big clue. whatever your problem is it is common to starter and ignition. I'd check your ground wire between the battery and starter. Very common for them to corrode and fail right at the starter.

Unless, of course, the black ground wire from the stator suffered a failure. Solenoid cannot actuate without a ground even if B+ is present. Run a temp jumper from bat- to the metal part of the ebox housing to test for that

Tried that. Good ground at ebox. I also tried testing the relay outside the ski and it didn't work that way either. I ordered a new relay Monday. Hoping it gets here tomorrow. Heading to the lake tomorrow after work.

Thanks again for the help and knowledge.

Ground wire is solid and looks clean. Also getting good continuity to head bolts from - battery. On a bright note... I've picked up a lot of experience and knowledge. Thanks!
