650/X-2 Info on d-cut ride plate

I'm thinking of d cutting my stock ride plate for my 550/650 conversion. Has anybody done this on a conversion ski?

What does it take to get a d cut on a stock ride plate and are they easy to do or would it be better to send it to somebody that's knows how? Any info on these would be great.

I used a coffee can as a template, measure in 3inches from the rear of the rideplate and make a line in the middle. then trace half or a quarter of the can to make the "D". cut out with jig saw and metal blades. then grind edges smooth. Easy, mod that you can do in your garage. No need to take it to someone else.

Sounds easy enough! Is it best to just d cut a stock plate or have u ever heard of ppl d cutting after market plates?

How did the 3 inches work out for you?
