impros 9x15 95 super jet ?

Hey guys thanks for all the good reading. I have a 95 Super jet with these mods.I'm just getting back into the sport.The last ski I owned was a 1987 js550 so there is a little learning to do.I would like to make this ski have more bottom and mid for freeriding with out getting in to deep .I called Impros and they are telling me I should look at a 9/15 3mm cut back. I have not found a single post where anyone is running this prop. Most are running a 13/16 or 13/17.David says that would be his choice and i should not have any trouble with the stock revs.I don't want it to run out to fast do I. I'm just re learning and really don't care about speed..... to a point .He says it will still be a 40s ski and that is fine.It has some punch now ,but from a 550 what do I know.I'm sure Impros knows what they are talking about just wonder why no one else is running this set up.Thanks for your comments.

Prop pitch now ? I have not pulled it ,but this ski seems to have been built for top end with the original R+D intake grate and ride plate also a little history from the (joe bag of doughnuts not very on top of things mainly a sit down guy ) owner.

The guys at impros really know what they are talking about, but lik eyou said most guys are running 13/17 or 13/16 skat trak freeride swirls. I'm running a repitched 12/17 freeride swirl with a 3 mm cut back by impros for my mag pump. Not sure how it is going to hit, but i know when my dad ran his 12/17 -3mm in his stock SJ it was a BIG improvement over stock.

Hey, and not trying to hyjack this thread, but on the note of impellers, is there such thing as under pitching? to the point that you go soo low that nothing happens but spinning when you hit the throtle?

i got a skat 9/17 that has a longer leading edge around the center thats not a full blade width its funky looking but it comes to life right off the bottom and keeps pulling

Yep... if you go too low the prop just continues to slip and won't really grab very well. The best real life example I can give are the 550/750 conversions. The guys that put a 750 motor in a 550 while still running the smaller 550 pump notice a ton of lag and slipping on the bottom end and then the prop catches up and the ski starts to rip.

A pitch of 9/15 seems a little low for a 701 with some 'go faster' parts on it. I guess the pitch will greatly depend on the style of the impeller to begin with. But like others have said, many guys are running 13/15 or 13/16 Solas Concords with 3mm cutbacks or Skat Trak 12/17 Swirls.

I'm trying a slightly cheaper option with an impeller I already have. Since I have a Solas 'I' series impeller which is a traditional style impeller normally used more for racing, I sent it out to Impros for repitching. For a stock ported motor with a B pipe and higher compression head, they recommend it be repitched to 13/16 with a 3mm cutback. I should have it back early next week.

Well we will see.I really hate playing the prop game on water craft.David said this is there design and it measures out different and loads better.I hope it does not run out to fast.I told him I wanted the most bottom and mid I could get with this ski and still have a 40 ish top speed without hitting the rev limit when hooked up.It should be here Friday.I'll post my un official newbe findings.He did consider the 9/17 as well ,but decided to go with the 15.

I just purchased the same one.......also called the "Hooker"........No one is running them because they have not shipped until this week. This is a new design that Impros is making. It has a very large hub and much different blade angle than the standard impellers. That is the reason for the different pitch numbers. The way his blades are bent is not the same as the others, so neither are his pitch numbers. Supposedly this thing will hit HARD off the bottom and have a stronger and more linear pull than the common impellers.

Yes you can under pitch an impeller and it will cavitate, but with most swirl type impellers that takes alot of power and a very mild prop.

I run a 701, B pipe, 48mm full specs, 195 PSI, and an advent. I am going from a 13-17 freeride swirl. My understanding from David is that the "Hookers" are set back even more, like 7mm.............

Should be testing this week!

Well said Phillip.

I understand why many people think that the pitch can be too low. This is true, if you detuned the heck out of an existing design like the Concord or Freeride.
We increased the root angle on this, the hub is 15mm larger than either of those. If this design impeller were at a 13/16, it would take a lot more HP to get it to rev and produce the bottom end many of you want.
The 9/15 loads similar to a 13/15 Solas Concord in rpm, but "hooks up" much better.
It's set back 7mm, which also contributes to the great hook up and quick response.
Phillip said it all, I just thought I'd add a few words. We're excited about the Hooker. We do still sell the Solas and Skat for those that are sceptical.

I received mine about a month ago... It's a 9/15 hooker with a 7mm setback...
the hub is much larger and it hooks up great.

I give it 2 thumbs up!!
