K I have a stock 93 Sj, set up for freestyle, footholds etc. I plan on dropping in a 701 or modding the 650 this winter. I bought an impeller on ebay it is 14.5-18 I prop solas, so thats one. When I pulled the pump I found out I have an old solas Supra impeller and the guys at impros says its probably a
15-20 pitch. So thats what im currently running.
Heres my dilemma, first off I havent got the impeller toolf from nikad yet and I have a dislocated shoulder so I wont be riding for about a month. Im also tight on cash cuz I cant work. Should I hold onto this 14.5-18 impeller for future use? Or, sell it and when I get the engine setup I want say next summer look for a better freestyle one or order a custom impeller from one of the shops? I dont know how the new impeller is going to be better or worse than what im running. One more thing, say I get a pipe, mill the head, msd to the 650 what would a good pitch be for freestyle. thanks, need some input.

the 14/18 is way too tall.

Ive got a solas concod 12/15 on my 650 boat, and it rocks!

ive ran it on the 701 boat too, and it still rocks!

I suggest 12/15, or even deeper if you dont have a head and pipe.

bore the nozzle to 85mm too.

it seems like alot of money for an impeller about $250.

but I swear to you it is worth every penny.

so a 12-15, who can make that for me? Or are they readily availible from impros or any place that sells impellers. Would I look for a concord 12 15 or another type.

btw, im selling that 14.5 18 if anyone is interested. Is it a prop better suited for a higher output 701 for rec and racing then?

impros
12/15 solas concord

they will take a 13/17 and make it a 12/15 and cut it back and all that jazz, its expensive, but I do not beleive there is a better impeller for your application.

and the 12/15 will still be good when you get a 701, like I said, I swapped it from my 650 SJ to my 701 SJ last weekend, and it RIPS on the 701.

bore your nozzle too.
thats about $50 or so, it makes a noticeble difference.

the 14/18 is a good impeller for a stout 701 in a NON bottom end application from what I understand.

It's a 140mm impeller... so it's easier to turn than a 144mm impeller, so it'll spool up quicker.

Yes I'm selling it, but a 650 needs all the help it can get

the 140 will spin up quicker, but it also moves less water per revolution right?

call Dave at Impros and tell him what you have and what you want, and all that jazz.

he will hook a brother up

DaUp, I just went through the same thing you are contemplating.

After several PM from Mouthfulloflake(that is a mouth full) I called Impros and placed the order.
They too recommended the Concord 12/15.

I put it on my '90 650 SJ which has a pipe and a slight bump in compression 2 weeks ago together with a Worx grate.
Now the little old 650 ROCKS.

I gained a ton of bottom end and even gained top speed but that might be due to the fact that my stock prop was junk.

I have an "I" 14.5/18 prop repitched to a 13/17 and cut back by impros and it rips. I have a limited 2000 SJ with a dry pipe. Not exactly a freestyle set up but it still has good bottom. Save some money, Call Impros and he can bend that prop up for you real nice.

his boat isnt making nearly the power yours is.

Its buy a low pitched concord now or later, spend some now, or run whatever you can find and wait to buy the impeller that you really want.

Just trying to save him a buck and re-pitch the one he's got instead of buying new. Come to think of it I had a 91 SJ with a pipe/head/ reeds/ Enhancer with a repitched "I" back in the day and it ran pretty well.

I understand that, and if it fits his bidget he doesnt have a choice.,

Im just saying that I wish I had never spent a penny on an impeller that wasnt a low pitched solas concord, it was all wasted in my opinion.

( both my superjets came with solas impellers, not low pitched concords, but old super cambers)

so they were already better than stock impellers.
BUT, the super low pitch and swirl blade design is so much better I wish I had just ponyed up intitially and gone straight to the end game.

so one that is repitched is not the same as buying one that pitch. Or mouth do you mean, the 13-17 is too much instead of a 12-15. The impeller is for sale on ebay anyways so cant do it now.

the blade design is different.

Do some reading here.

http://impros.com/

read about the radial, or swirl type impellers.
they are different than the other types, they offer better rough water hook up, and usually better low and mid range acceleration.
