Impeller housing??

I was just putting my pump back together on my squarenose, really just mocking it up back together because my Impeller housing is cracked, but anyway is the impeller supposed to touch the impeller housing wall??? It's like its not letting the impeller turn, its hard to turn by hand?? Should it just spin freely. Sorry if its a dumbass question but this is my first build.

No, it is not supposed to do that.
Most likely, the wear ring is swollen. You will need to replace it.
