650/X-2 I need help getting my new startor in my 650sx

I have a 1989 kawasaki 650sx, I recently bought a new sarter for it... here is the link to the one i bought: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Star...80538549073QQptZPersonalQ5fWatercraftQ5fParts

when i was taking the old one out it was very tight and hard to get out, now this one seems even harder to get in, also I was wondering if anyone has used this starter for their sx because it seems to be just a little bit longer than my stock one, and if you push it all the way in the bolt holes dont line up so there needs to be a couple millimeters gap between the engine and starter. Also, I cant remember what the negative (black) wire hooks up to on the starter, sorry if these are dumb questions but I am new to this stuff. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

mine has a gap between the startor and case. and im pretty sure the positive wire bolts to it. 004.jpg thats mine (701 yamaha)

Never used that starter and don't remember the gap. Did you measure the original starter to see if its any different? The negative cable connects to one of the starter bolts that go into the cases. The post on the starter is for the positive. I moved my ground wire to one of the flywheel cover bolts so it was easier to maintenance.
