I may be late friday....

Guys, this week has been one of the toughest I've been through.

Here is a post I made on wavejunkies a few months ago.

On May 28, 2005, I lost someone who has touched my life forever in an awful tragedy. On June 3rd, 2005, my 23rd birthday, I attended the funeral of a friend. I thought that would bring some closure to the situation, but the final chapters of this story have yet to be written. I didn't know her any longer than 3 years, but although my time knowing her was short, she was a star that shined brighter than any other. I'm still not sure how she accomplished all that she did, from being a single mother, to earning a bachelors degree, to working full-time...simply amazing. She was murdered by her on & off again boyfriend at the time and the father of her child. I still don't know what to think of the situation & am not sure I'll ever be able to fully grasp what happened. It's something that always just below the surface & something that I think about everyday.

I'll be in court to hear the defense's arguments on why her killer should live. The prosecution spoke yesterday & the judge should have a decision tomorrow. I will probably be in court in the morning to hear her decision. I'll be at flatwater friday, but may be a little late. I'll be there no later than 3 if I can help it.

If anyone gets to the ramp tomorrow & I'm not there (Ford Thunderbird with a 550 behind it), feel free to call me at 757-572-3705. I can't take the phone in court, but I'll change my voicemail accordingly if need be.

Here is a link to a news report video from yesterday.

This was touching to me also, an article from Rachel's father, Rod Scher.

What a tragedy, I'm very sorry.

Don't worry about us, we'll figure out what to do. Just take care of your business, it's much more important. Sorry again.

Brian, she was beautiful, and it’s easy to tell by her eyes she was as beautiful inside, as you have described. I believe you will meet her again, and she is obviously still with you. I’m sorry for the type of loss you are now suffering. We ladies will be there for you as well this weekend in support…count on that. Prayers for her child.

thanks everyone. I think of her everyday.

This afternoon's session was very short & they will continue tomorrow. I'm going back in the morning, but I plan on being at the ramp around 3 give or take, pending on what happens in the morning.
