My search for a SJ hull is finally over. It ended last night after a trip over to Tom21's shop yesterday evening. And he got himself a nice white Blaster hull in the trade.
It is a 1990 Yellow SN Hull that had, well, some rather interesting aftermarket backyard fabrication done it.
While Tom & I were grinding the PO's homemade pump shoe out, we discoverd the following. Toielt paper roll, paper, screen, wax paper, bondo and some interesting rubber material that must of came from NASA.
And we made our own mark to the inside pump area with a "TOM21 special" crow bar... yeah Tom broke out his crow bar to work on my ski... But it worked to get rid of the nasty build up material that the last guy used.. Just a little patch job and Tom had back on my way. Thanks...
We deturfed it last night to get it ready for footholds. This was my first experience with deturfing a standup. And the whole process only took about an hour. Got kinda lucky with that one I guess...I have heard horror stories from other people.
Tubbies are next in line as well. SInce there are already some nice hole where PO tried to place some tubbies. That also appeared to have failed as well.
Well also had to do some structural fixing of the handlepole that, once again. The last owner added his own NASA special metal plates to the side for fixing the cracks the cracks in the pole. Well, some grinding, and some glass took care of most of his work. It isn't pretty looking, but it will work for now until we find a different pole to use. Or until this one just snaps off and sinks to the dark deep blue of the gulf.
I will add more updates as work continues this afternoon...
But here is what we have so far.. Just click on the pics to enter my Pufile page to view all at once.. After adding all of the below links..Duh....
The Dion & Tom Special Crow Bar incident...Oppppps :banghead:
Well... Back to work, I just wanted to share the process of my first standup with everyone. My transition from a Blaster to SJ will be fun.. I have been CONVERTED..
