what is the advantage, if any, of rear exit exhaust? It sound great and allows a more free flowing exhaust, but is that it? I do not race i just ride surf, could this water get shot up the exhaust and cause problems?
chances of water going all the way back through the exhaust to the engine is really unlikely, more likely with a front exhaust actaully. rear exhaust benefits are its quiter, and more back pressure.

As a guy who started out on the old front exhaust 440, I was really happy when they went to rear exhaust. Keeps it out of your face while you get going, is much quietter, and helps keep water out of the engine. All big plusses in my book.
i have a b1 right now and was thinking of dumping the exhaust out the transome so i was trying to get some insite i guess as to the gains and losses of moving the exhaust outlet from the pump housing to the rear.
