Hull mods on a 650sx

Long story short I've got a busted 650 hull and a friend wants to fix it for practice. Since it's junk to me Idc what happenes to it so I might as well make it as I want it so if it turns out good I'll throw an engine in there. What would you do to it obvious answer footholds and glass in tubbies but I'm trying to spend as little as possible on it. Anyone ever make there own hull extensions? Or should I just widen the tray or flat deck it? Thanks any input pictures will help. Idk how much the ski would get rode so it won't be getting a built engine etc. I would guess rattle bomb and donor 650/750 ski

Hull extensions are more for racing. I would make them removable. You can probably make a small mould of the chines on each side, then use that to make your hull extensions. You can add inserts inside the back of the ski if you want to make them removable. Rear sponsons are easy if you intend to race.

Id put in a rear exhaust, an engine compartment drain, and consider your cooling line situation. If you really want to get crazy, fit it for a 750/800 pump and trim. If you go with the 750/800 pump, you should be able to use a 750ss drive shaft which has the longer splines and not have to have any custom prop work done if you put a 750 motor in it.

I wouldnt bother with any of the above except for footholds and may e the rear exhaust. The rest are nice but unless that boat has some sentimental value its an old boat and ypure better off putting your related investment into a superjet.

Ya the rear exhaust would be a good idea. I might pitch the idea of a 750 pump since I've got one laying around. Understandable on the extensions I rode a 750sx that had them and it didn't porpoise at all. I don't race and idk if this would ever even get completed but I figured if he wants to practice I'll let him. Ive got a 08 Sj so that will the ski I ride

The 750 pump is a big job. You need a custom pump shoe, custom intake grate, different drive shaft (or cut a stocker but the right one is easier on a 650sx) and a cut ride plate.

I was a Kawi hater until my SN broke down and I picked up my SXiPro and 650sx as bargain backup skis from a friend. I ended up making custom footholds front and rear for the 650sx and have fallen in love with the way it rides. If you want big tricks, forget it. If you enjoy old school play / recreational freestyle it is well worth it. Subs/Stabs/Looooong slides/hood tricks all around fun and the footholds make it really easy to flick around.
I like mine so much I am in the process of dropping in an SXR motor.
