HT Lifters

I know, I know, I know... Lifters are a waste of time and I should get some footwells. BUT....

I don't have the time/money/skills to install footwells, and I don't have the skills/horsepower to need them anyways.

That being said, I'm thinking of some sort of lifter/footstrap combo for my squarenose. I'm already going to returf, and I figure for $20 or so, they can't hurt anything. If anyone out there has lifters installed, and is not embarrassed to show a pic, share some advice, etc; I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Im sure there is someone near you that could help ya with footwells. If you have the time to turf footwells will only be one more Sat. But if you insist on lifters I know SUVA has some on his 650/750sx. I tried his ski with them and really didnt like them but they were mounted a little low.

I never understood that thinking. People act like no one was doing tricks before footholds and no re-entries/carving before tubbies. Unless you are looking to do BF or BR, you don't need footholds! Best of all, if you first learn without these "aids" you will be a better rider when you feel the need to get them.

As for the lifters, you can glue on the HT ones or turf a strip of 1"x2"x12" hardwood then screw it in place (old school style).

You will also be surprised how much more you can grip the tray sides with just turf. I couldnt get my wifes 650sx to sub until the turf. Now I can grab the sides with my feet and pull the back up easy. Just an added thought.

One more reason to turf the sides of the knee pad on my X2. yet another winter project:woot: :woot:

The two Biggest backflips I've complete in my life. Were both without footholds, with lifter wedges. I agree you can ride for a year without them, but sooner or later you will want them.

Do you live in Tacoma, WA? If so, I'm out in Seattle about every couple weeks for work. I would be more than happy to install some footholds for you if you supply all the materials.

Fiberglass - $15
Epoxy Resin and Hardener - $30 - 40
Stainless Screws - $2
2 part foam - $20
Latex Gloves - $10 (pack 100)
Stirring sticks - $5
Hydroturf - $35 (b-stock sheet)
Dremel with cutout tool (used for drywall and such)
Drill with wire wheel cup
Vacuum

i have lifters on my sxr, but thats my race ski. I like them to lock my toes under sometimes when i turn, and they've kept me in the tray a couple times upon accidental ejection.

I have footHOLDS on my superjet, and I must say I love them. Lifters are crap compared to footholds. Their just on my sxr for racing and some rough water racing if i need'em,I'd definatley do footholds If I was you though, they rock

footholds are worth it even just riding imo, I know im used to them but when I hope on someones ski without them I feel like im riding a 2x4, just no balance.

lifter wedges aren't bad. I had them and my wife still uses them. Use Dap weldwood contact cement in the red can to glue them where you want them. And then get 2 stainless wood screws per side and screw them down. Stand in the tray and outline the top of your foot to get an idea of where you want them.

Easy half hour install. But if you are already re-turfing get the foot holds.

im in the same boat, no clue how to fiberglass. and im not about to start "learning" and ruin a perfectly good (and expensive) boat.any of you colorado guys have the skills to install footholds and want to do mine? just finished pulling the old stock turf off.still need to scrape old glue off before installing the new turf.

last winter I did it all myself. well, not be myself cuz this forum has so much info!:arms: :arms: It was a great experience thats super rewarding when you get out and ride on the fruits of your labor. They're worth it!

AP designs side mats with built in lifters are your best bet sort of footholds. The lifters are molded into the mats so there is no drilling involved.
