300/440/550 How to unpickle engine?

Bought an old Sea Couch that had sank at a beach for an afternoon. Owner got it out and with some help from a local SeaDoo dealer they pickled it. They used kerosene. Everything on the creature stinks like it of course, but a good wash has helped it alot. My question is, what all should I do to the 650SC to unpickle the motor now? Obviously drain the tank. Should I use the 650 drain fitting to drain the crankcase, or just leave it alone since it appearently was sealed this long? Or should I take the plugs out and crank it a while and hope most comes out. I looked to see about installing block off plate for the cc drain, but it's tough to get to in this setup.

Additionally, if I premix this do I have to put a block on the oil injection unit or can I just disconnect the hose and plug it off.

After sinking my X2 twice last year, I have used the CC drain both times with success. I am waiting until the engine comes out before I plug them. So If I was you I would witout a doubt use the drain. And then crank it over without the spark plugs.

As far as the oil pump. I read on pwc that you can take the pump off and grind down the tab that connects it to the crank and re-install without the lines to the tank. Maybe someone can shimmee on this.

Well if I go to the effort of getting to it to take it off I think I'll just buy a block off plate for it. It's getting to it that's no fun on this ride.

I disabled the oil pump in my '92 XP without any problems so far. I think it's been atleast 20 hours ridding since the pump was disabled by simply plugging the 2 lines.

No info available on 'pickling' the engine. I'd suspect that a good cleaning all through will do wonders.

If it was my ski, I'd pull the flywheel cover and check for rust. Assuming the stator's in the same place on the 650 engine as the 587.

EDIT: Installing the block of plate was a PITA. It required removing the intake. I'd expect the same process on the 650...

I am not familiar with the 650 but on the 587 seadoo that is a rotary valve motor and gpshemi you had mentioned that you just blocked off the hoses so how are you oiling your rotary drive gear now ?

That's why you don't block of the 2 fat lines going to either side of the engine. Those *have to* have 2-cycle oil in them to lube the rotary.
Only block of the small lines going to the intake. You'll be fine, unless the pump is working and it creates enough pressure to blow the hose...
